To enhance the user experience, we occasionally send SMS notifications for the following purposes:

User Consent for SMS Notifications

We prioritize user privacy and ensure compliance with SMS messaging regulations by obtaining explicit consent from users before sending any SMS messages. Users are not automatically enrolled—they must take a clear action to opt in.


Opt-In Process (Explicit Consent Collection – Mobile App Only)

When Consent is Requested

  • Consent is collected at the time of initial account signup through the ChicShout mobile app.
  • Users can also opt in later via their account settings in the app.
  • Consent is never assumed—users must actively agree to receive SMS messages.

Presentation of the Opt-In Checkbox

  • Users are shown a checkbox during initial signup with clear language outlining the purpose of SMS communication.
  • The checkbox is unchecked by default, ensuring explicit user action is required.
  • The user must manually check the box to opt in.

Consent Language Displayed in the Mobile App

The checkbox is accompanied by the following statement:

☐ I agree to receive SMS notifications from ChicShout at the phone number provided above. I understand that I may receive 10000 messages per month about my account, outfit votes, and community updates. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out.

  • The checkbox is not preselected, ensuring explicit consent.
  • The user’s phone number is entered manually and confirmed.

  • Via Account Settings: Users can opt in later through the notification settings in their profile.


Proof of Consent Collection & Record Keeping

How We Store Opt-In Data

When a user consents to SMS notifications, we securely log the following details:

  • User’s phone number
  • Date and time of opt-in
  • Opt-in method (App or SMS Keyword)
  • Device details (for compliance documentation)

Confirmation Message Sent Upon Opt-In

After a user provides consent, we send a confirmation SMS with the following message:

“Thank you for signing up for ChicShout SMS updates! You’ll receive messages about your account and fashion votes. Reply STOP to unsubscribe anytime.”



Opt-Out Process (Easy & Clear)

Users can opt out at any time using the following methods:

  • Via SMS: Reply “STOP” to any ChicShout message to unsubscribe immediately.
  • Via App Settings: Users can go to account settings and uncheck the SMS consent checkbox to stop receiving messages.
  • Immediate Confirmation: Upon opting out, users receive a message confirming they have been unsubscribed.

Example opt-out confirmation SMS:
“You have successfully unsubscribed from ChicShout SMS notifications. You will no longer receive messages. Reply START to re-subscribe.”
